Catch one last sunny day at the coast before your next chance in July 2018…or later…

Featured Event

We have one more mostly dry month – so my starred recommendation is to take full advantage of it. Drive out to wine country, hike Forest Park, do a day trip out at the coast or go have a picnic among the fall colors. September and October are actually my favorite months in Portland as it’s still pretty warm, dry and then the leaves change color and it’s breathtaking.

As for Halloween recs, find another blogger. There are more than enough Halloween parties for your swell Tuesday night this year, but if you need a tip, I’d say the Kennedy School party is always spoken of highly.

Shows You Don’t Want to Miss

There Is No Mountain will play The Liquor Store on Wednesday, October 4th.

Interesting venue – Down Gown will play Bare Bones Bar on Saturday, October 7th.

Drab Majesty take over Holocene on Tuesday, October 10th.

Just one of those bands I could listen to every day, Yumi Zouma, will be playing Mississippi Studios on Friday, October 20th.

Phone Call is kicking their tour off in Portland on Friday, October 27th.

Though I couldn’t snag tickets, Ke$ha plays the Roseland on Saturday, October 28th.

Live Wire has shows on October 7th and 12th. Always a fun time – I promise your face will hurt from laughing.

Film

I will definitely be catching some offerings of the German Film Festival October 6-8 at Cinema 21. I always look forward to this little gem, mostly because I try to keep up in German and because these are films you can’t see anywhere else.

You Haven’t Been There Yet?

If you haven’t been to Division and 11th in a hot minute, you should check out Aviv in what used to Portobello. It’s all-vegan Israeli food and it is fantastic. The flavors are bold and fresh. My tip is to try the beet salad appetizer and the enormous schwarma fry bowl.

Across the street is Virtuous Pie, makers of very good pizza and amazing vegan ice cream. The dark chocolate mint is my favorite flavor, followed by Pastry Party. The brunch menu is also impressive.
